Alan is a proven business leader and Silicon Valley veteran, bringing a wealth of experience creating and growing new businesses. Since Alan’s arrival at Spark, the firm has emerged as one of the largest independent technology PR agencies in world and is currently ranked #53 in the ‘Top 100 US Agencies’ by PRWeek. During Alan’s tenure, the revenue at Spark has more than tripled, and the company has broadly expanded its client base, opened new global offices, and won numerous industry awards, including the coveted TechCrunch “Crunchie Award” for Best Technology PR Agency, The Holmes Report “Technology Agency of the Year” and recognition by the San Francisco Business Times as a “Best Place to Work in The San Francisco Bay Area” in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Alan’s broad range of technology and consumer experience is complemented by his passion for spotting new market trends and business opportunities. Alan’s perspective is integral to the Spark philosophy: he looks at things from the outside in, reminding us of what the average consumer will react to, as well as what a business client wants and expects. Before joining Spark, Alan served as chief corporate strategist for MTI Inc., a leader in the research and development of alternative energy technologies, and earlier as president of MTI’s micro fuel cell subsidiary – MTI MicroFuel Cells. Prior to his teunure at MTI, Alan was instrumental in the successful IPO of consumer electronics and broadband chip company, Tripath Technologies, Inc., while serving as vice president. Alan was also general manager of Philips Mobile Computing Group, where he grew Philips’ portable digital mobile products business from a startup to a $100M global supplier. Additionally, Alan has held a number of other key executive positions directing marketing, sales, product development, and business unit management for industry-leading technology and consumer companies.
