We put great importance in long-standing and close relationships with the people behind the brands we represent.” says director and co-owner Simone Sassmanshausen. “Getting a brand into the desired market position is one thing - holding on to your desirable image sustainably is what takes the most effort and commitment.”. Co-founder Mandy Meuwese adds: “The same applies to our relationships with our media partners, journalists, stylists and celebrities. Since we work together so intensively, personal connections, respect and enthusiasm are central to our work.”

Ganbaroo was founded in 2003, originally as an internal PR-desk for local fashion group moshi moshi. It combined PR work for key accounts such as Evisu, Fake London and Puma Black Station with concept development and events. Its reputation was based on events like Fashion Week, Bling and Formal Fridays, production for brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Moet & Chandon, Replay and Cartier, and the magazine launches of Glamour, Red, La Vie en Rose and Delicious.

To further professionalise the showroom and PR services, Ganbaroo PR PR was set up as an separate company by Mandy Meuwese and Simone Sassmanshausen in 2005, which became fully independent in 2007. It was one of the first Dutch agencies to focus entirely on fashion, lifestyle and luxury brands, with an approach more like its contemporaries from London and NY than Dutch PR agencies in the market at the time. “We’ve always taken a very personal approach. Our first major pitch was for a large French luxury account. We hand-wrote a presentation booklet, and one page said ‘Ganbaroo : Personal Relationships Produce Results’... that’s where the double PR comes from” explains Simone.

As well as showroom PR and positioning advice, Ganbaroo supports its clients in media strategy, free publicity, celebrity endorsement and press management. The outspoken, personal and goal-oriented approach seems to be working; most accounts in the growing portfolio have been connected to the agency for years.
