About company

“Reputation arrives on foot and leaves on horseback.” – an old Dutch saying

And sometimes the horse never returns.

Chris Winans founded his corporate and crisis communications practice in 2017 after nearly three years heading Hill+Knowlton Strategies’ U.S. financial services communications practice.

Chris Winans Consulting provides strategic support and execution focused on corporate reputation enhancement, protection and repair in the financial services sector.

A reputation as a trusted enterprise takes decades to build, minutes to destroy and much longer to rebuild. It can be done but only with a strategy based on a commitment to transparency and a clear and genuine social purpose that resonates first and foremost with employees followed by customers, business partners, communities, regulators and shareholders.

Winans has advised financial services companies – including global life and non-life insurers, banks, asset managers and management consultants, among others – in both in-house and agency roles.

He draws his expertise from more than 30 years of experience as a journalist, a Wall Street financial analyst, a corporate and crisis communications adviser, and a C-suite thought-leadership strategist. He has helped companies manage reputation risk through the turmoil and crises of deregulation through the dot.com and real-estate bubbles, the Great Recession and sweeping re-regulation.
