It’s a Wonderful Life: Focus on What Matters Most in 2023

While we all get caught up in what, in the big picture, is small stuff – the job we are doing, the money we are making, carefully crafted efforts to convey success or status - what we should be doing is focusing on what’s really important.

The movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life”, is a source of inspiration. As I note in a new article for CommPRO.biz, “A Wonderful PR Life: Looking at the Big Picture for 2023”, the idea that a rich life would be based around relationships with friends and family, the help we provide others, and the differences we make, may seem quaint more than eighty years later, but still resonates on a deep human level.

“It’s a Wonderful Life” shows that real wealth is built not on what we say, but on what we do over time. It is rooted both in our professionalism and our humanity. It is built on the foundation of our relationships with family and friends. And, it may involve a personal sacrifice.

We will all likely have a George Bailey moment, when circumstances lead us to question ourselves, whether what we have done has had an impact, and how others see us. It takes an angel to show George what the world would have been like without him, and to fully appreciate and value what he has. We need to find meaning and purpose in what we do ourselves.

As I conclude: “When we build our lives on the firm foundation of who and what is really important, a wonderful life is within all our reach in 2023.”

Wishing you a very Happy New Year.
