Samantha Villegas, APR is an award-winning communications strategist, committed to using her powers for good. For 25 years, Sam has helped clients make the world a little bit better by expanding recycling, promoting water conservation, increasing investments in energy efficiency, enhancing opportunities for veterans, fostering immigrants’ rights to work, supporting common sense gun legislation and much more. Sam's work has taken her from Maine to Hawaii and from Seattle to Tennessee. She's worked with companies of 6,000 and nonprofits with staff of 6. She has counseled and executed on paid strategies, earned media, social and owned media for business to business, business to government, business to consumer and government to consumer. Her work has been featured in industry trades, national print publications and broadcast media and she is a frequent writer and speaker on PR.
In 2013, Sam was elected president of the National Capital Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) where she expanded its volunteer service awards, revived the chapter’s Hall of Fame award, and created a thought leadership initiative. In 2016, she was elected to PRSA’s National Board of Directors, where she helps oversee operations of the largest public relations association in the world.
In addition to her work and her service to PRSA, Sam volunteers locally, and has provided more than $30,000 worth of pro-bono counsel and support to social service organizations in Loudoun County, VA where she lives.Sam holds a Master’s in environmental policy from Johns Hopkins University and is accredited in public relations by PRSA’s Universal Accreditation Board.
