Revolution Communications was appointed by relatively unknown electric automotive company NextEV to handle PR for the global launch of its car brand ‘NIO’ and its revolutionary electric supercar, the EP9. Revolution Communications devised the communications strategy for the global start-up and worked as a central PR hub, handling the UK media activities. The communications plan included a teaser campaign and culminated in a London launch event to unveil the brand and supercar.

The launch was attended by media from across the world. Significant coverage was achieved in the UK across news, automotive, technology, engineering, lifestyle and business media, including the front page of Daily Telegraph ‘Cars’, double page spread in The Sun ‘Motors’, Top Gear Online and The Grand Tour. Hundreds more pieces of coverage have been generated on a global level including noticeable articles in Forbes and Fortune .

Articles described the NIO EP9 as a ‘game changer’ and ‘the future of motoring’, challenging the stereotypes of a Chinese car manufacturer with comments such as ‘unlike past Chinese attempts to take on the global car marker, NIO has the hallmarks of success’. NIO is being described as ‘setting sparks flying’ in the EV industry and there is global awareness that the NIO EP9 has set the fastest EV lap of the Nordschleife.

The resulting media response has been wholly positive and has resulted in NextEV being mentioned in articles alongside top car manufacturer names when discussing electric vehicles. Not only have the PR activities created awareness of the brand and its technological proof point, but has also helped change perception amongst the Western media.

"}}
